Young Actors Theater Company strives to provide quality enriching theater arts programs to children. Often, dramatic arts are left out of elementary schools, yet research has proven the positive impact these programs have on children.
A study conducted by UCLA shows that consistent participation in theater arts greatly improves academic performance and significantly bumps up standardized test scores. Students who make time for the arts are also more involved in community service, and less likely to drop out of school.
Our main focus has and continues to be an after school drama program. According to a report by the Afterschool Alliance:
*More than 15 million school-age children (26 percent) are on their own after school. Among them are more than 1 million are in grades K through 5.
*Only 8.4 million K-12 children (15 percent) participate in afterschool programs. An additional 18.5 million would participate if a quality program were available in their community.
*The Promising Afterschool Programs Study found that regular participation in high-quality afterschool programs is linked to significant gains in standardized test scores and work habits as well as reductions in behavior problems among disadvantaged students.
Bus Sponsorship
Our after school program provides bus service from the schools to our theeater. Doing this makes it simple for parents to have their children partcipate in YATC programs.
This is a huge benifit for parents, however, a big expense for YATC.
Young Actors Theater is looking for sponsorship of our bus service. Corporate and
individual sponsors will be recoginized throughout YATC and in all our media materials.
Scholarships
Young Actors Theater is open to children of all backgrounds. We have sponsored a number of children in the past so that they can particpate in our programs.
Individual and corporate giving will be used to provide additional scholoarships to those
who would otherwise ot be able to participate.
Young Actors Theater Company is working to convert to a 501c3 business. Until that is
accomplished we have the priviledge of having Fractured Atlas as our fiscal sponsor.
Fractured Atlas is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) arts service organization that receives donations and grants on behalf of Young Actors Theater Company. Fractured Atlas will provide oversight to ensure that the funds are used in accordance with which they were given and provide reports as required.
